Improved: the card-expiry reminder now goes out about 30 days before the first renewal after expiry
If you have the Pre-dunning switch on, the reminder your subscribers get about an expiring card is now sent once, about 30 days before the first renewal that falls after the card's expiry, and the default reminder email names that renewal.
Before, the reminder could repeat every cycle, including for renewals the card still covered, and its button was a portal sign-in. Now the button leads to Shopify's card update. For a subscriber who is not on Shop Pay, it lands on a new page that says Shopify is emailing a secure link to add the new card. The page appears in the language the shop's portal shows, with a sign-in fallback if Shopify refuses.
In Payment recovery, the Pre-dunning switch text now matches: it reads "Sent about 30 days before the first order after the card's expiry, for cards expiring within 60 days." It used to say the reminder went within 7 days of the next renewal.
You do not need to change anything. The switch stays as you set it, and shops that have it off send nothing.
