PayPal status, in Settings

Billing & PaymentsPlatform
See whether PayPal is ready for subscriptions, from Settings

Shopify hides PayPal at a subscription checkout until a shop's PayPal Express gateway is specifically approved for subscriptions, and until now Subi had no way to tell a merchant whether that approval had happened.

Settings now has a "Subscription payment methods" page, right after Shipping, with a PayPal card showing one of five states: On, Pending, Off, Check in Shopify, or Not checked yet (for a shop whose status has never been read). The status is read from Shopify once a day, so the card can lag a change made directly in Shopify's PayPal settings by up to a day.

Subi's default merchant failed-payment email also now carries a short paragraph for shops where PayPal looks relevant, explaining that PayPal fails less often and linking to the setup article, so a merchant chasing failed renewals has a path to check whether their PayPal setup is the reason.

This is a read-only status check; nothing about a subscriber's existing payment method or an active subscription changes.
