Payment recovery: a late charge's recovered order now releases on the same schedule as an on-time one

Billing & PaymentsRetention

Your Billing management settings include a Recovered orders setting, also shown on the Payment recovery page, that governs what happens to the order behind a payment once it's recovered, including a Reschedule option.

When a charge was already late, meaning its original due date had already passed before the retry ran, the retry previously stamped the moment it actually ran as the charge's origin time instead of the date it was originally due. For a store using the Reschedule option, that meant a recovered order from a late charge sat held until the next billing day, instead of being released immediately the way an on-time recovery already was.

The retry now resends the original missed due date as the charge's origin time, so a late charge is scheduled the same way an on-time one is. A Reschedule store's recovered order from a late charge is now released at once, matching on-time behavior.

The Recovered orders setting's description, on both the Billing settings page and the Payment recovery page, also now says plainly that a recovered order is marked Unfulfilled with either option when the first charge for a billing day went out late or the customer paid by replacing a declined card, so the copy matches what the setting actually does.

No setup is needed; this applies automatically to late charges going forward.
