Refer-a-Friend — turn subscribers into a referral channel

Subscribers can now refer friends from their portal — the advocate earns loyalty points, the friend gets a first-order discount, fraud checks built in.

Refer-a-Friend is now part of the Subi Loyalty program. Reward existing customers when their referral leads to a paid order — your advocate earns points, the new customer gets a discount. Turn it on under Retention → Loyalty program → Earn Methods → Refer a friend.

How it works

  • Your advocate gets a unique referral link to share and earns loyalty points for each successful referral.
  • Their friend gets a discount on their first order — a percentage or fixed amount you choose — applied automatically from the link or by entering the code at checkout.
  • Customers share their link from the Refer-a-Friend page in their customer portal.

You stay in control

  • What each side gets — points for the advocate, a percentage or fixed discount for the friend, with an optional minimum order value.
  • When the reward is confirmed — on the friend's first order (fastest), first fulfillment (best for one-time products), or first renewal (strongest protection for subscriptions).
  • Time windows — how long after a click an order still counts, and how long pending points wait before they expire.

Built-in fraud controls

Toggleable checks keep referrals honest: self-referrals, shared IP / phone / address, cookie mismatch, and existing-customer detection — plus an option to require a saved payment method before a reward is confirmed.

See every referral

A new Referrals tab shows every referral with its advocate, friend, status (pending, confirmed, revoked, rejected) and points awarded — searchable and filterable.

Refer-a-Friend runs on top of the Loyalty program, so you'll need loyalty active first.
